New Dean of Faculty Support for Large Proposal Initiatives
The Office of the Dean of Faculty encourages faculty to pursue large-scale funding opportunities—those involving multiple PIs, spanning departments across Arts and Sciences, and, where it strengthens the work, engaging colleagues in Dartmouth’s other schools or at peer institutions. The office now offers the possibility of a single course release for a lead PI who works with Grant Proposal Support (GPS) to put together a competitive large-scale proposal. We anticipate one to two such opportunities per funding cycle for the next few years, after which we will ask faculty for feedback on how well the program is working.
Whether you have a specific opportunity and collaborators in mind, or a cross-departmental team with shared goals and no grant identified yet, GPS can help with both hands-on assistance and candid feedback. Last year GPS supported two such efforts, one already funded, led by computer science professor Tam Vu.
Interested faculty should reach out to GPS colleagues Charlotte Bacon and Miguel Morales, copying Jane Lipson, associate dean of faculty for the Science Division.
